Britain has sent a team of experts to Nigeria to advise and support the country in its response to the abduction of over 200 school girls, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) announced.
The team is drawn from across the British government, including the Department for International Development, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Ministry of Defense and will work with Nigerian authorities, Xinhua news agency reports.
The experts will be considering not just the recent incidents but also longer-term solutions to prevent such attacks in future, the FCO said in a statement.
The team has arrived in Nigeria's capital Abuja and will work with their U.S. counterparts and others to coordinate efforts.
About 200 girls from Chibok community in northeastern Nigeria's Borno State were abducted in April.
On Monday, militant group Boko Haram reportedly claimed responsibility for the abduction and threatened to sell the girls.
