King Sunny Ade’s guitar sold for N52m at ‘Sunny on Sunday’ concert

The Sunny on Sunday concert of King Sunny Ade, Juju maestro, had a lot of great performances as well as a few surprises.

One of the most talked-about aspects of the concert was the auction sale of the legend’s Fender guitar for N52.1 million.

Although the initial auction price was N9m, many in the crowd were shocked when the bidding war intensified and the price tag was continuously raised.

Victor Ehikhamenor, artiste and writer, was responsible for designing the now-historic guitar.

Sunny on Sunday was the grand concert of the month-long celebration of King Sunny Ade’s 70th birthday.

Some of the artistes who performed at the concert were Tiwa Savage Awilo Logomba, Onyeka Onwenu, Sir Shina Peters, Darey, Omawumi, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Iyanya, Jeff and Tyson Noir.

Funke Akindele, Lolo Omotunde and comedian Tee A, served as hosts for the night.

The concert held at the Temple Balmoral Marquee, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Super music star, Donjazzy has signed former Made Men Music R&B star, Iyanya to his Mavin records.

Donjazzy made the announcement via his Twitter and Instagram account early Monday morning as he welcomed the former Project Fame winner said both of them are up to something.

Rotherham United sign Nigerian forward

Nigerian forward Osaze Odemwingie has completed a short deal with English Championship side, Rotherham United.

Osaze who was on the verge of joining Bolton Wanders completed his move to Rotherham on Monday, October 24.

The deal which is the first signing of new boss Kenny Jacketts, will see the 35-year-old play for Rotherham United till January 2017.

Rotherham announced the signing on their website and also spoke to the player who promised to repay Jacketts’ faith in him.

Mary J. Blige's ex-husband asks for a massive amount of money per month in temporary spousal support

According to TMZ, Mary's ex-husband Martin "Kendu" Isaacs is asking for an insane amount of temporary spousal support per month. Mr. Isaacs first put in his request for support in September.

While Blige has filed to deny her former husband any money while they work out their divorce, Martin is asking for $129,319 EVERY thirty days. The singer's ex-manager believes it's a fair sum in light of the lavish lifestyle he's grown accustomed to over the course of their 12-year marriage.

In addition, Isaacs argues he's out of work now that he's no longer working for Ms. Blige.

As for the celeb's finances, she's about to make bank considering she's currently on tour with an upcoming album. In the past two years Mary has made about $1.5-$5 million dollars in revenue.

It will be quite interesting to see how this case plays out in court, especially since the two have a prenup. We wonder if a judge will believe Martin's claim that the prenup is void since it allegedly wasn't signed with his lawyer present.

Willian to miss Chelsea's game with Leicester following the death of his mother

Willian will miss Chelsea's Premier League clash with champions Leicester on Saturday after being granted compassionate leave following the death of his mother.

The Brazil playmaker wrote a poem in his native Portuguese in tribute to his mother on Instagram on Thursday after her death.

Chelsea sent their condolences to the 28-year-old and his family.

Chelsea said on their website: 'All of us at Chelsea Football Club are sending our love and deepest condolences to Willian and his family after the passing of his mother. We are thinking of you Willian.'

Willian's mother, Dona Zeze, 57, had been battling a brain tumour for more than two-and-a-half-years.

She had been through five operations and received chemotherapy, but succumbed to the illness at the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo following complications.

Just over a month ago, Willian revealed for the first time in an Instagram message that he was suffering from personal problems. He told how his mum had been in a 'two-and-a-half-year struggle' against brain cancer and spoke of her phenomenal 'strength' in fighting the disease.

In a message to his mother, he said: 'I am following this battle while away from you. It is not what I wanted and if I could I would be by your side twenty-four hours giving you all the love, affection and power to get you through this. But unfortunately my profession does not allow me to do so.

'It's been challenging, but with faith in God everything will be fine and you will be back as you were before. Because to see your smile makes me happy and comforts my heart. Get better soon mum.'

Willian's mother will be buried on Thursday afternoon in the Ribeirao Pires district of Sao Paulo.

The midfielder scored in Brazil's 2-0 win in Venezuela on Tuesday night and dedicated his goal to his mother.

Chelsea have won one of their last four Premier League matches - a 2-0 win at Hull prior to the international break - but beat Leicester in the EFL Cup last month.

And the 31-year-old's considerable self-confidence shows no sign of diminishing any time soon.

"In my head, I am the best player in the world," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. 

"And I am working very hard every day with the ambition to be the strongest. It is then up to others to judge me. 

"I always want to improve myself. I am very motivated and I believe that is the key behind my success on the pitch."

The 31-year-old has endured a difficult start to the 2016-17 campaign after sustaining a knee problem in the final of Euro 2016, but feels he is nearing top form again after netting five goals in two games for Portugal during the international break.

"I suffered a serious injury [in the final at Euro 2016] and missed two-and-a-half months, but I am feeling well now," he added. 

"I am back to my usual best and I am ready to enjoy another spectacular season."

The Gbogbo Big Girls actress said there was a fire outbreak in her home in the night of Tuesday, October 4, 2016. She however said the fire was put out.

In the midst of it, Badmus was grateful to God for sparing her life and her neighbours for coming to her rescue on time. The actress also revealed that she is hale and hearty and unhurt.

Badmus adds another year on September 7 and she decided to celebrate it with the orphanage.

He noted that she gave up the ghost Monday night while effusively declaring his everlasting love for her.

“Last night my angel left me, my first love stopped breathing and it’s the deepest pain I’ve ever felt. I love you for every sacrifice you made to make me the man I am today, I’ve loved you through the tough times. 

“I’ve loved you through happier days and all I can say at this point is that I will love you forever. I will miss you mummy”, Basketmouth wrote.

Kim Kardashian feared she was going to be raped by five masked men in Paris apartment raid

Kim Kardashian bravely freed herself by 'wriggling her hands' after five masked men bound her wrists and ankles with zip ties and left her in a bathtub during her terrifying robbery ordeal in Paris.

Kim feared she was going to be raped during the break-in that left her tied up in her luxury Paris apartment as men dressed as police officers stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry.

But once they had gone she managed to break free from the restraints and scream for help from her balcony.

Kim and Simone were alone in the Hotel Pourtalès behind the Madeleine church. Built in 1839, it is not a proper hotel, but a portered building containing nine flats designed for multi-millionaires.

Kim had been asleep in just a robe early Monday when she heard the robbers barreling up the stairs of her two-story apartment behind La Madeleine church in the city's 8th arrondissement, TMZ reported.

She was halfway through dialling her bodyguard when her phone was snatched out of her hands. Meanwhile, her quick-thinking friend Simone Harouche sprung from her bed downstairs and locked herself in a bathroom, the website reported.

The fashion stylist and long-time friend of the Kardashians called Kim's personal bodyguard Pascal Duvier, who was out at the Arc nightclub with Kourtney and Kendall less than two miles away.

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old reality star begged for her life, screaming that she had two children as five masked men bound her wrists and ankles before leaving her in the bathtub.

Kim managed to squeeze her hands out of the wrist ties by 'wriggling her hands,' a source told People. Another source said she 'screamed from the balcony' after freeing herself, which is when her friend Harouche heard her.

Kim, who later told police she feared she was going to be raped, didn't understand the French-speaking robbers amidst the chaotic scene.

There are fears some of the jewelry stolen in the raid could have included a Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring, diamond grillz and sentimental necklaces designed by her husband Kanye West.

But she heard them repeating 'ring, ring' before she realized they were searching for the 20-carat emerald-cut Lorraine Schwartz ring given to her by husband Kanye West, according to TMZ.

She soon told them where she left the ring, which is worth a reported $4.5million (€4 million /£3.5 million) and last seen on Kim's finger in a Snapchat post earlier that night.

Kim's bodyguard, who managed to return to the apartment two minutes after the men escaped, was blasted for allowing the shocking security lapse while former guard Steve Stanulis suggested it was an inside job.

Actor Kalu Ikeagwu reportedly arrested for robbery and murder case involving assistant

Yesterday, there were reports that Nollywood actor Kalu Ikeagwu was kidnapped by armed men in front of his house in Ogba, Lagos.

However, It has been discovered that he was actually arrested by security agents following a robbery and murder case at around 3:40pm on Monday afternoon, September 26 but has been released now.

Ikeagwu was taken in for questioning over a case that had to do with his personal assistant. According to reports, his personal assistant unknowingly bought a stolen phone from Computer Village in Ikeja and the thieves killed one of the victims during the robbery and the case was under investigation.

The crime happened in Abuja but the phone was traced to Lagos by the security agents who then came for him as it was his address and name that were used during the purchase.

One of his neighbours spoke to Encomium magazine. The arrest allegedly happened in the afternoon after he dropped his step daughter at home from school.

After dropping the girl off, he was on his way out when he got a call. The call was said to have come one of the operatives who had been waiting for him. As soon as he stepped out of the gate, he was confronted by the men.

At first, he was politely invited, but was refusing to go with them. This escalated the situation and the security agents brought out their guns. Neighbors tried to help, but fell back after they saw the guns as Ikeagwu was carried away in a bus. He returned home in the evening.

Despite being all the way in America, Bovi’s wife, Kris Asimonye threw the popular comedian, Bovi a surprise birthday party in Lagos.

The lovely surprise party was all her idea but she got her sister to put her plan to fruition. Kris, who is currently in America to deliver their third child had everything properly arranged without giving Bovi any hint.

The plan was subtle and being miles away, it was hard for Bovi to suspect what was happening. The whole thing took him by surprise and being a sharp guy, he knew he missed this one. She then teased him on Instagram for not suspecting her plans.

We’ve seen African artists sign international deals and lose their ‘Africanness’ just because they want to appeal to international audiences. Well, popular 36-year-old Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage is not about to be one of them.

She was featured in a recent article in Vibe magazine and she explained why even though she has a management deal with an international record label(Roc Nation), she is still going to remain a true African and nothing is going to change.

“I’m still very pro-African and you can’t take that away from me,” she points out. “There’s nothing you can do to change that.” She said.

The mum of one also weighed in on the confusion regarding the Afrobeats genre. Explaining that Fela, remains the true founder of Afrobeats.

“I don’t even know how it came about. I know Afrobeat is from Fela and the reason why I guess people wanted to start a new genre of Afropop was because a lot of the music we’re doing now is influenced by hip-hop, R&B and pop. You can’t really say it’s just Afrobeat, because Afrobeat has a sound. When you hear it, you now it’s Afrobeat. I think that’s where the argument is.”

While appearing on 'The Wendy Williams Show' on Tuesday (09.20.16), the tough-talking host grilled him on the three girls in question as he sat slumped in his chair with a grin.

She asked:

"Did you do Khloé?

"I'm going to ask you again. Because no matter what you say I think you hit it at least once."

The 'Let's Ride' hitmaker - who was romantically linked with Khloe in 2014 - replied: "Yeah."

Wendy then asked him if he'd "got down" with Khloé's older sister Kourtney Kardashian - who has three children Mason, six, Penelope, four, and 21-month-old son Reign with her estranged partner Scott Disick - but he threw it out.

However, the star's silence said it all when Wendy pushed him on whether he'd got hot and heavy between the sheets with Kim - who he's previously dated - as he didn't want to be "disrespectful" towards her now-husband Kanye West, with whom she has North, three, and Saint, nine months.

As the room erupted with cheers, he said: "I'll tell you this, Kanye is a really good friend of mine and he's got really beautiful kids and I don't want to disrespect their family."

He also admitted to getting frisky with Chyna, who is currently expecting a baby girl with Kim and Khloé's brother Rob Kardashian, even though she's not yet a Kardashian.
