Lloyd named women's player of the year as Ellis scoops coach award 2015

The United States World Cup-winning captain and coach were named Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively, at the ceremony in Zurich on Monday.

World Cup-winning USA captain Carli Lloyd and coach Jill Ellis have been named Women's Player of the Year and Coach of the Year at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Zurich.

World Cup-winning USA captain Carli Lloyd.
The 33-year-old inspired the USWNT to a 5-2 thrashing of Japan in the Women's World Cup final last year, thanks to a 13-minute hat-trick, the team's third title.

Lloyd scored 10 international goals during the calendar year as she earned the Golden Ball in Canada and finished second to Ballon d'Or rival Celia Sasic to the Golden Boot, but triumphed on Monday.
"This has been a dream of mine ever since I started my journey with the national team," an emotional Lloyd said. "Celia and Aya [Miyama, fellow nominees] are phenomenal footballers and just as deserving of this award.
"I want to thank everyone who voted for me and everyone at US Soccer for their support. I want to thank Jill and the coaching staff.
"I honestly wouldn't be standing up here without my incredible team-mates and we all know that it took 23 players to win the World Cup last summer, so thank you to them.
"To James, we started this journey 13 years ago and you told me I could become the best player in the world... it's just took me until now to realise I could."
Carli Lloyd scored a 13-minute hat-trick as Japan were beaten 5-2 in the final, adding their winners' medal to those won at the Algarve Cup earlier in 2015, where they beat France in the showpiece.

Ellis took charge of the USA national team in 2014 on a full-time basis in 2014, after two previous interim spells, and led the squad to their third Women's World Cup win in Canada last year.

Stand up for the champion: Lionel Messi wins 2015 Ballon d'Or

The Barcelona star capped a stunning year with his fifth World Player of the Year gong, beating off competition from team-mate Neymar and Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lionel Messi has won the 2015 Fifa Ballon d'Or ahead of Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona team-mate Neymar, claiming the prestigious award at Monday's ceremony in Zurich.
Stand up for the champion: Lionel Messi wins 2015 Ballon d'Or

Messi received 41.33 per cent of the votes, with Ronaldo (27.76%) in second place and Neymar (7.86%) third.

It is the Argentina international's fifth World Player of the Year title - more than any other player in history - and thwarts Ronaldo's quest to tie his haul of gongs, with the Madrid star having picked up the award in each of the last two seasons.
"It's a very special moment for me, to be back here on this stage winning another Ballon d'Or after being in the audience watching Cristiano win for two years," Messi said upon receiving his award.
"It's incredible that it's my fifth, it's much more than anything I dreamed of as a kid.
"I want to thank all those who voted for me first of all. I also want to thank obviously my team-mates, as I always say without them none of this would ever have been possible.
"And lastly I want to thank football for everything it has brought me - both the bad and the good - because it has made me grow and learn always."
The Ballon d'Or award caps yet another remarkable year for Messi, who secured five trophies and a famous treble with Barcelona in a dominant 2015, ending the Catalan club's four-year wait for another Champions League victory - his fourth title in Europe's premier club competition.

Messi scored a remarkable 52 goals for club and country across the calendar year - five less than Ronaldo - as well as contributing 26 assists in 61 appearances, scoring or assisting every 0.78 games.

The 27-year-old first won the Ballon d'Or in 2009, before it merged with Fifa's World Player of the Year award, and won it every year afterwards until 2012 when his stranglehold on the award was finally broken by Ronaldo.

Sylvester Stallone brought his entire gorgeous family on the Golden Globes 2016 red carpet

Now, that’s a gene pool! Sylvester Stallone’s got the ultimate #squad — his gorgeous wife and daughters — and they became the talk of the 73rd Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, January 10.

Though the Creed star, 69, who received a giant standing ovation after winning Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, was dressed to impress in a classic navy tux and bow tie for the show, it was his three daughters and wife of 19 years who stole the red carpet show.

Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin, 47, wowed in a feather bodice number with beaded waist detailing.

Sophia Rose, 19, wore a strapless, silky navy blue gown with a high slit, which she paired with silver shoes and a blue clutch, while her sister Sistene, 17, rocked a plunging black dress with a statement gold belt. The youngest daughter, Scarlet, 13, looked radiant in an ivory crochet design with a double slit, paired with nude heels.

The entire family posed with the Rocky star in the press room after he’d won his award, and again while attending the Warner Brothers afterparty.

In the press room, Stallone admitted to still being shocked after his win. “I didn’t expect it at all, and I don’t remember a standing ovation. Was there really?” he told reporters. “I was promising myself that I would be very aware the whole time. It proves I am not aware and I got caught up in the emotion. Just the mere fact that these incredible people were applauding, it makes me realize in life, it is really never over until it’s over. It indicates that people should never give up trying.”

Leonardo dicaprio’s face when lady gaga barged past him was superb

It seems the most talked about moment of the 2016 Golden Globes was not an amazing speech, or a deserving winner, but Leonardo DiCaprio’s superb reaction to Lady Gaga barging past him to collect her award. Watch the video above.

The pop star was on her way to collect the gong for ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ when she pushed past DiCaprio’s table.

She seemed to be in a daze and didn’t notice that she knocked the ‘Titanic’ star’s arm on the way to the podium.

DiCaprio was chatting away and laughing with a fellow guest at this table when she walked past, then looked seriously freaked out when he saw that it was Lady Gaga who had knocked him.

His reaction was priceless.

The moment quickly began trending across the internet after it was captured on vine, and Leo was even asked about it at after the awards.

“Oh lord – that’s trending, huh?” he told ET’s Cameron Mathison. “I just didn’t know what was passing me – that’s all!”

In case anyone’s interested, Leo also WON a Golden Globe for Best Actor- Drama for his amazing performance in ‘The Revenant’, which also won ‘Best Picture - Drama’.
