A man who was separated from his wife sneaked into her new security complex, waited for her for 12 hours, and then shot her new lover before turning the gun on himself.
Netwerk24 reported on Tuesday that Leon Lourens, 47, killed himself with a .38 Special.
His wife's lover, Don Nolan, was shot four times in the chest, and is in a serious condition in hospital.
His wife, Helena, broke fingers as she wrestled with him outside her new home in Centurion.
The couple were in the process of divorcing.
According to the report, Lourens drove into the complex at 17:00 on Sunday under the pretext that he was going to look at a show house. He waited in his BMW for nearly 12 hours before confronting his wife as she and Nolan emerged from her house at about 05:00 on Monday.
A neighbor said the wife told Nolan to go back into the house as she spoke to her estranged husband, who asked her to give their marriage another chance. She apparently refused and a fight broke out. Nolan came out when he heard screams, and was shot by Lourens, who immediately killed himself.
The neighbor said the scene was covered in blood.
In a separate incident in December, a policeman shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend, critically wounded his 2-year-old son, and then turned the gun on himself in Temba, north of Pretoria.
In January this year, a man shot his wife dead before killing himself at Parkview police station in Johannesburg.
