Nigerian singers – 2Face Idibia, Timi Dakolo, Waje and Patoranking – have been announced as coaches for the maiden edition of the “The Voice Nigeria”, a reality TV singing competition.
Africa Magic, organisers of the show, revealed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday.
The Director, M-Net West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, said: “The Voice is an international franchise that has consistently provided exciting television contents whilst giving opportunities to talented individuals to showcase their talents to the world.
“We are thrilled to introduce the franchise to viewers in Nigeria and across Africa.
“Our viewers will definitely enjoy the sterling performances by the artistes and the excitement as the coaches jostle to pick the best performers.”
NAN reports that the announcement of the coaches for the Airtel-sponsored competition came after a successful talent auditions in Calabar, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos.
According to the organisers, the coaches will critique the contestants’ performances, and guide their teams of selected artistes through the remainder of the season.
“The Voice Nigeria” is organised to provide opportunity and platform to discover and develop young talents in music.
