Arsenal have agreed to pay Sami Khedira £100,000-a-week if he completes his proposed transfer from Real Madrid in January.
The Gunners have been chasing Khedira for months and reports at the weekend claimed the German had finally accepted a switch to the Emirates Stadium for the new year.
Now Spanish news website Fichajes, who broke the news of Arsenal’s interest in the player, says a £100,000-a-week long-term contract has been thrashed out.
Arsene Wenger must now concentrate on finalising a fee with Madrid, with the Champions League winners said to be holding out for £15million.
Arsenal will hope to do business for less, as the player is in the final year of his contract, but Madrid are known to be tough negotiators.
If there is any iota of truth in this story, then it means that Wenger was badly hit in the jaw watching his boys being schooled by the title chasing Chelsea side on Sunday.
Well, as an Arsenal fan this is a welcome development. I would love to see a Khedira in that midfield and not a Flamini or Arteta.
