National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, who presented a cheque on behalf of President Jonathan; the national leader of the party, to the head of Mile One Market traders, Mr. Thankgod Ebere, said the donation was aimed at cushioning the effect of the fire incident on the traders.

Muazu spoke during his visit to Port Harcourt to commission some projects executed by some stakeholders in the party and to broker peace among aggrieved members of the PDP in the state.

He explained that though the market was not a Federal Government property, it was necessary to help those whose good were destroyed by the fire incident because they are all Nigerians.

Promising that the party will rebuild the Mile One market, Muazu faulted the Rivers State Government for failing to reduce the hardship of the traders after the fire incident.

“The market does not belong to the Federal Government, but all the people (traders) are Nigerians. I send the greetings of Mr. President to all of you. I, on behalf of the leader of my party, present the token he has asked me to deliver to you.

“This is a cheque of N250 million. As a priority, I am assuring you (traders) that we will rebuild the market,” the national PDP chairman said.
