Bus Station Attack in Abuja Death Toll Increases

At least 70 are believed to have died after the bombing of a bus station in Abuja.

BBC reports that 124 people were injured while 16 luxury coaches and 24 minibuses were destroyed by the attack.

The attack took place on Monday morning during peak traffic, targeting people who were on their way to work.

Kole Shettima, director of the Abuja office of the MacArthur Foundation, told Reuters that the attack came as "no surprise" because of the prevelance of Boko Haram in other parts of the country.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
